Implications are critical factors you must keep in mind when designing and constructing any digital outcome (website, database, software, or media asset). Select or review each area below:
Social: How people and society are affected by your outcome (e.g., tone, language, avoiding harmful content).
Cultural: Respecting language, customs, traditions, and beliefs (e.g., imagery, symbols, cultural sensitivities).
Accessibility: Ensuring access for users with visual/hearing impairments and across various devices/browsers.
Usability (UX): Designing intuitive layouts so end-users complete tasks easily and effectively.
Functionality: Ensuring all code, forms, links, and databases function correctly without errors or crashes.
Sustainability / Future-proofing: Structuring assets/code so future updates or scaling can be easily managed.
Legal & Copyright: Abiding by NZ laws (e.g., Copyright Act 1994). Using original or properly licensed assets.
Privacy: Adhering to the Privacy Act (e.g., securing user data and obtaining consent before publishing photos/details).
Ethical: Doing what is right beyond just what is legal (e.g., transparency, fair representations).
Health & Safety: Minimising physical strain (e.g., ergonomic interface design, reducing dark modes/screen strain).
Aesthetics: Choosing appropriate visual/auditory design choices (colour harmony, typography, layout consistency).
End User: Tailoring all features specifically to meet the target audience's demographics and tech skills.
